through this pandemic

Progress on the Alt Jazz Ark youtube

channel includes the complete second

archival album, called Institutional Classical.

The album features nine pieces

in the classical genre created

during my days in school.

One of the results of this effort

was realizing that the last piece,

called Romance (Seduction), was

never properly recorded in its

original format for violin and piano.

So, I have endeavored to produce that

recording with Michèle Walther (violin),

and Elektra Schmidt (piano).

While I am still working on the final mix,

if you want to check out how the sausage

is made, we streamed the recording

session, and I published the

last take from the twitch stream

December's Salon Highlights

The Alt Jazz Ark youtube channel

also features highlights from the

third musical salon held at Flaming Hakama

on December 5, 2021.

This event featured the Alt Jazz Ark

quartet performing lyrical songs

I wrote soon after moving to SF,

which at the time were played regularly

by the Alt Tal trio.

However, this is the first time we've

performed them with lyrics, and with chords.

has been my favorite place to sit in.

over the last six months or so.

Typically led by saxophonist Danny Brown

and his rotating rhythm section all-stars,

tonight I've been asked to help

hold it down, and here's our lineup

I'll be sitting in with his funk-oriented

outfit Stanky Leg at the only no-cover

club with music every night in the Mission.

Alt Jazz Ark at New Farm

The Alt Jazz Ark quartet will play

a gig at the self-proclaimed coolest

new music venue in SF, which is a

farm in the Bayview.

The New Farm has offers free

community access to outdoor spaces

where people work, play, and

express their creativity without

worrying about cost.

Enjoy weekend concerts and share

food with friends old and new,

feed chickens and goats in a

beautiful plant-filled environment.

Our set will include one world premiere,

called Blue Steps.

We will also perform material

premiered as a trio during our

first musical salon, songs called

Jazz Combustion Uprising album
