I'll be squealing with a
chordless (and nameless)
Jazz quartet led by Carl
Herder.
He describes it as "a Max
Roach/Ornette kind of thing
with plenty of outness."
We tried something similar
last year, and here are
Carl's reflections:
"I got a lot of really
enthusiastic feedback.
It really was a great gig...
ignoring the exploitative
nature of the economics."
The band features:
Elaine Alt - saxophones
Dr. Lester Carnegie - trumpet
Carl Herder - bass
Dave Casini - drums
Get ready for songs with
long intros, and endings
where things organically
groove out,
and sometimes
start up again.
The repertoire may include
some of my favorite
Wayne Shorter, Charles
Mingus and Thelonious
Monk
compositions.

Friday night preview party.
And then the full alt.musica
chamber orchestra performs
Saturday afternoon.
At 1890 Bryant St. there will
be as much art as you
can
shake a stick at.
There
may
also be other
musical
performances during
this
event, so stay posted

updates to the schedule.
